I’m already back from Trinidad and Tobago but it’s taken me some time to adjust to being back home. I’ve always been a city girl and have visited several metropolitan cities but this trip definitely opened my eyes to a different sort of life– island life. People don’t have a hundred ideas going through their minds, they just live in the moment and are happy. With all the craziness that was happening at the time it was the most perfect time to take a break and relax. In this set of photos I’m wearing a more relaxed all white outfit. The sun was beaming and even though most of my closet is all black I had to scavenge to find something to deflect the rays. I’m wearing BDG white shorts from Urban Outfitters along with a distressed t-shirt paired with my Spitfite sunglasses.
A few of the locals took us on a private boat ride and this was by far the most amazing beach that we visited in Tobago. There were barely any people there we had a whole section to ourselves. The water was so clear and you could walk into the middle of the ocean and it was literally at your waist. I felt like I was in a dream. I can’t even describe how beautiful the scenery was. All I could do at the moment was “take a mental picture”, as my friend Lee would say. We were taking hella mental pictures, lol!
In these series of shots I’m wearing my Indah blue fringe bikini top which looked amazing as the sun was setting. This is very unique top and I’m obsessed with it because I don’t think there’s anything like it. I die for anything with fringe! I paired it with my Minimale Animale shameless brief. It had black hardware and could match any kind of bikini top.
It’s blazing hot out here and it’s ridiculously humid. You’ll be able to tell in the frizziness of my hair because that shit cray (in some of the photos). I’ve been having an amazing time so far and we’ve been hanging with locals who have been taking us to places that we would have never found ourselves. Before our excursion today I threw on a pair of vintage stone washed shorts that I found at a thrift store, my Urban Outfitters sandals and my top is actually a bikini top that I got from Nasty Gal. Hope you guys are having a great day so far, it’s time for me to go!
This morning I woke up to the sounds of birds chirping and goats baaing. It was fucking amazing! Although, when I walked into my bathroom there was a bat and I was freaking the fuck out and I damn near had a heart attack. Yup, I’m definitely not in the city anymore and I need to prepare myself for quite the journey- which entails a lot of bugs. I don’t know if I’m ready for this.
Trinidad and Tobago is a twin island off of the north edge of South America. We’re currently in Tobago and staying in Castara where the beach is literally walking distance from our Airbnb. The weather is perfect and there’s a little humidity but it’s bearable. Today’s look consists of very minimal clothing because, duh! We’re at the beach. I’m wearing my Minimale Animale mesh firebird cover up along with my Nasty Gal Hologram swimsuit. I love the fabric of because it’s super unique and I haven’t really seen any swimsuits in this color or print. On my feet are my Jeffrey Campbell slippers with really cool circular hardware and on my face are some clear cat eye sunglasses. More outfits to come! Stay tuned!
Happy Saturday! I took some quick snaps right before I had to run errands because tomorrow morning I’ll be headed out of the country for a much needed vacation. This isn’t the most practical outfit for Target but whatever, I’ll try not to fall and eat shit (May the Shoe Gods protect me). Here’s a tip- when shopping in LA you kind of have to fix yourself up because you never know who you’re going to run into. C’mon, you don’t want to be looking all sort of haggard that’s just rude. Be kind and fix your face or wear sunglasses. I busted out my light wash flared jeans that I haven’t worn in forever. The 70’s vibe has been a popular trend so why not go with the flow? I paired it with a cute ribbed crop top because it’s blazing hot outside and my Quay round sunnies that go perfect with this look.
There are days where I tone down my look. I can’t always wear shirts or shoes that say F*CK on them because it’s not always appropriate (supposedly). This is an outfit that I would wear to work because it’s more casual with a bit of an edge. There are pants that rarely fit me well because I have a small waist and chicken legs but BDG’s Skinny Denim are perfect. They hug me in all the right places and they’re not too tight on my calves, which is mostly where I have the most trouble with denim. When I went shopping a few weeks ago my co-worker, Kathy, helped me pick out a cute cropped top with a vintage inspired print from Urban Outfitters. I paired it with my mom’s skinny belt that she wore back in the 80’s. The Brixton Messer fedora is a staple piece that everyone needs in their closet because it goes it almost everything along with a pair of Ray Ban clubmasters. My Bowie booties are from Nasty Gal’s Shoe Cult line and they’re really comfy believe it or not. To give this whole look a little bit of pop I wore Mac’s sin lipstick. It’s a great color for those who have darker completion, like me!
Special thanks to Arnelle Lozada from THISBEAUTIFULIFE.COM for helping me out because I’m super awkward, lol! She’s been a mentor/ older sister to me when it comes to all this blogging stuff.
